Stonks is building an online platform that allows startups to pitch and raise money in real time from anyone. Their app is designed as a highly accessible, user friendly interface into high quality private deal flow. The app allows for investing, portfolio tracking and management tools, startup sourcing and selection, legal and financial ops, and direct communication with founders. Unlike other platforms charging fees to founders to syndicate deals, Stonks will bill investors on a subscription basis for access to the platform. This is important because the current open fundraising platforms attract low quality deals. The incentive structures prioritize companies with trouble raising funds to the point they are willing to pay a third party to source investors. High quality companies refuse to use these types of platforms because they don't need to pay to get their round funded. High quality VCs also avoid the current platforms, knowing bad deals surface to the top. The result is good companies that are raising funds don't get the same public exposure, limiting good deal flow to select investors in their network. The Stonks platform increases the supply of high quality deal flow and attracts a broader base of high quality investors into a single network that doesn't exit today.
